We have already talked aboutenvironmental impact of the offshore. Today we will touch on this topic once again by putting the benefits that a offshore wind farm it could lead to the community.

L'offshore wind energy has caught the attention of many countries. While Canada and the United States are just entering this sector, Europe can count on beauty of 1,502 turbines for a production capacity of 4,336 megawatts connected to the eletricity grid last June.

From an environmental point of view we know that theoffshore wind:

  • provides clean energy slowing down climate change and ocean acidification
  • can count on stronger winds
  • it brings benefits to marine fauna because it reproduces a habitat similar to that of natural reefs
  • protects fish from trawling, which is excellent for the environment but a negative factor for the fishing industry
  • it offers shelter to mussels and some species of crabs

The only problem ofwind energy arises at the end of the turbine's life cycle. Turbines are difficult to dispose of and their treatment involves rather cumbersome techniques but nothing that modern technologies cannot deal with.

A offshore plant has a positive impact on the environment and oneconomy. Setting up a offshore wind farm from 130 turbines from the capacity of 300 MW, the positive impact on the environment is clear, enough will be produced clean energy to feed 130 thousand homes allowing a large cut in harmful emissions in the atmosphere. During the construction phase, work would be provided to 500 people including technicians, workers, designers ...

Not to mention the creation of new jobs and seasonal jobs that require maintenance works. An estimate conducted in the United States of America saw that setting up a offshore wind farm of this size, the local community would benefit from 250 million dollars, for a direct economic movement of 400 million dollars.

It is remarkable, this rather valuable message

It's a pity that I can't speak now - I'm late for the meeting. But I'll be free - I will definitely write what I think on this issue.
