A wonderful hotel made with salt blocks is ready to welcome you near the crest of the Andes 350 km south of the Bolivian capital La Paz, at an altitude of 3,656 meters. Is called Palacio de Sal, literally "Salt Palace ", located on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni, one of the largest salt flats in the world.

L'Hotel it was made in salt for a mere need: in addition to salt, there are no other materials available in the area, there were two alternatives, importing building materials or making salt the main ingredient of an accommodation facility.

The works for the preparation of the first salt hotel began in 1993, within a few years thehotel became a tourist reference point. The first salt hotel was dismantled in 2002; it consisted of 12 double rooms, a common bathroom and no shower…. Salt is water soluble! The first hotel was dismantled due to problems in the waste management. The problem found an answer with the second version showing up more attentive to the environment and more luxurious.

The current Palacio del Sal it was built in 2007, to reach it you will need to reach the city of Uyundi and travel 25 kilometers. For its realization, 35 cm blocks of salt were used.

L'Hotel it is entirely made in rooms: floors, walls, sculptures and ceiling. The furniture is also in the rooms, including beds, tables, chairs and other furniture. L'salt hotel built in 2007 offers many more facilities than the previous one, all rooms have private bathroom with hot and cold water, central heating and electricity. It is equipped with a Turkish bath, a sauna, various whirlpools and a pool of obviously salt water. It is advisable to book well in advance, there are only 16 rooms, eight doubles and eight doubles. Tourists will be able to take advantage to play a game on a golf course in salt, consisting of nine holes.
